>NFL insider says Ben Johnson ‘didn’t interview particularly well’….

Johnson Flubbed Commanders Interview, According to NFL Insider.

As the Washington Commanders prepare to embark on the Dan Quinn era, a significant segment of the team’s supporters is curious as to why the rumored combination of general manager Adam Peters and well-known coach Ben Johnson—who is currently the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions—did not materialize. Although the general consensus is that Quinn was the appropriate candidate Washington picked, there is a small wave of opinion suggesting that Johnson may have been the mastermind behind his own downfall.

Johnson was reportedly a finalist for both the Seattle Seahawks head coaching position and the Washington post, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo, who recently made an appearance on Seattle’s “Puck & Jim Show.” In the end, he declined both chances to stay with the Lions.

“I didn’t think he did a very good job throughout the interview. In my opinion, he did not particularly impress anyone throughout the interview process. Additionally, I’ve heard that while he’s a really intelligent, brilliant man who makes a terrific play caller, his disposition is a little bit reserved. Not a Dan Quinn or even Mike Macdonald kind of guy, which I believe came across in the interview process.”

Johnson, 37, withdrawn his name from consideration via text message when members of the Commanders brass were on their way to interview him again, despite the fact that many thought he was the clear favorite to replace recently fired head coach Ron Rivera. Not surprise, the Washington organization was not pleased with his notification approach. Nevertheless, Garofalo raised the prospect that Johnson had already lost favor in the nation’s capital prior to his planned second interview. Reportedly having trouble with interpersonal interactions, the Charleston, SC native did not impress his Washington suitors in major part. In reality, at the time he decided to come back to Detroit, he might have been behind Quinn and at least three other contenders.

According to Garofalo, “I assume he was quite low on their list at that moment.” And the Ravens’ defensive line coach Anthony Weaver performed remarkably well. He seems like a wonderful man. I believe that late last night, Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator for the Lions, was fired. Thus, I believe Weaver and Dan Quinn were the final two. Therefore, they got along better with other males than Ben Johnson.”

In the end, Washington will go with Quinn, who will now have to rebuild a team that finished with a 4-13 record while having the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. On the other hand, Johnson will rejoin the Lions, who narrowly missed a Super Bowl LVIII spot. It is still up for debate whether or not the Commanders made the right choice. In any case, the team and its troubled fan base will eventually learn the truth.
