The Roosters welcomed back three key players for Sunday’s semi-final victory over the Knights, with the returning trio all appearing to get through unscathed ahead of the grand final.
Tarryn Aiken (shoulder) and Jess Sergis (knee) were both late inclusions in coach John Strange’s side, while
skipper Isabelle Kelly took her place in the centres despite dislocating her elbow joint and rupturing a ligament in
Round 9.
While Kelly was interchanged with 15 to play, the move was a precautionary one and she remains on track to play in
the decider, despite spending most of the week in an arm brace.
“I just knew that I was going to do everything that I was capable of to make sure I was up for selection,” Kelly said
following the win over Newcastle.
“I feel really good to be honest… I have got to give so much credit to our medical staff.”
The Knights had both Hannah Southwell and Tamika Upton play through knee complaints, although neither
failed to finish the match as a result of their respective concerns.
Forward Rima Butler was unsuccessful in her bid to overcome a knee injury in time to play in the semi finals.
Earlier the Broncos suffered an injury blow on the eve of their semi-final against the Sharks with Romy
Teitzel ruled out.
The back-rower was unable to take part in the second half of the win over the Dragons in Round 9 due to a hip
concern and was ruled out the day before her side’s defeat to the Sharks.
It followed the loss of winger Stacey Waaka, who suffered a leg fracture in Round 8 against the Sharks.
In Round 9 the Titans lost Taliah Fuimaono to an eye injury which ruled her out of the final 15 minutes of her
side’s loss to the Raiders.
The playmaker has been sent for surgery after further diagnosis revealed the Gold Coast star to have a detached
retina, which she received treatment for on Monday.
It’s expected Fuimaono will be unavailable for the upcoming International period while sidelined for the next month
post-surgery.
