When the Ohio State and Notre Dame football teams meet on Monday for the right to claim the College Football Playoff Championship, it’ll be just the ninth meeting between the two.
In fact, despite being close to each other both in geography and tradition, the two went almost 60 years between the second and third matchups. The two first met for a two-game series in 1935 and 1936, the finally came together again in 1995. The meetings have been more frequent since then, but never as often as what probably should have occurred.
Since both blue blood programs are set for an epic battle in less than a week, we thought it’d be a good idea to take a walk down memory lane and look at each of the previous eight matchups, one that Ohio State has owned since Notre Dame jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first two matchups.
Here’s a look at every Ohio State vs. Notre Dame meeting and a shorthand version of events and final score for your reading pleasure. There will
a new story to tell on the night of January 20 that will add to the battles of two of the most storied programs in college football history.
