Steelers' Diontae Johnson Could Be On The Move To The NFC Now After Top Suitor Emerges

According to Sports Illustrated, the Arizona Cardinals are purportedly the next team interested in acquiring Diontae Johnson from the Steelers. The desert team wants to consider making a trade for Johnson with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As the team makes some offensive adjustments, the Steelers are considering the possibility of moving Johnson. In 2023, the wide receivers for the Pittsburgh Steelers made news for all the wrong reasons—inconsistent performance or criticism about game officiating. The Steelers didn’t appear to be a good offensive club for the most of the season, despite making the AFC playoffs.

The Cardinals are trying to add some offensive weapons to support Kyler Murray, their starting quarterback. The team just declared that Murray was the quarterback of the future, but Murray will need some support to guide the team. The Cardinals and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. are matched on some NFL draft boards. It’s obvious that the desert football squad wants some attacking targets for the upcoming season.

Johnson seems like a good fit for the Cardinals. The wide receiver caught 51 passes for 717 yards and five scores before the end of the 2023 campaign. With almost 1,000 receiving yards and 107 total grabs, 2021 was his greatest year as a receiver.

For the most part, Arizona has had hardships recently. The Cardinals had a dismal 4-13 record at the end of the 2023 season, fifteen years after winning a Super Bowl. According to Sports Illustrated, the Cardinals have five additional draft picks in the first three rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft in addition to the fourth overall pick.
