The £7 million Leicester City star might have wanted to move to Norwich City..

After a stellar first half of the season, the Foxes appeared destined to return to the Premier League at the first opportunity, but that is now far from assured.

Tom Cannon bags brace as leaders Leicester thump Huddersfield

Since the beginning of the year, Leicester’s play has considerably deteriorated. On Tuesday night, they lost 1-0 at The Den to relegation-threatened Millwall, with a magnificent goal from Ryan Longman in the second half securing all three points for the Lions.

But Enzo Maresca’s team is still unbeaten, tied for the lead with Ipswich Town in second position and one point ahead of Leeds United in third, and they have a game in hand on both of their rivals.

Championship Table (As it stands April 11th)
Team P GD Pts
1 Leicester City 41 42 88
2 Ipswich Town 42 32 88
3 Leeds United 42 43 87
4 Southampton 40 26 78
5 West Brom 42 25 72
6 Norwich City 42 15 68
7 Coventry City 41 17 63
8 Preston North End 41 0 63

Tom Cannon, a striker, will be itching to play for the Foxes when they return to action on Friday night when they travel to Home Park to play Plymouth Argyle.

Cannon may have wished he had joined Norwich City, another interested party, rather than moving to the King Power Stadium, since things have not been easy for him since joining Leicester in the summer.

Tom Cannon might have chosen to play for Leicester City rather than Norwich City.

Following a fantastic loan stint at Preston North End in the second half of the previous campaign, when he made 21 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and dishing out one assist, Cannon garnered a lot of interest from the Championship in the summer.

Despite being linked to Preston, Norwich, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United, and Middlesbrough, Cannon ultimately signed a £7.5 million contract with Leicester in September, winning the competition for his services.

Cannon did not make his Foxes debut until December due to a back injury, but after scoring three goals in two games against Huddersfield Town and Millwall in early January, it appeared that he was settling in.

Since then, though, Cannon’s opportunities have been scarce since Maresca thinks Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Patson Daka are better than him.
