Report; Cats star set for scan, Crows’ Stewart plan fails

Patrick Dangerfield, who left the field in the last moments of Geelong’s victory over Adelaide on Friday night, must undergo a scan on his hamstring.

Despite being one of his team’s top players during the 19-point victory, Dangerfield pulled a left hamstring on the bench in the final two minutes, forcing Mitch Knevitt to take his place.

“He detailed a cramp,” Scott remarked following the game.

I wouldn’t be concerned at all if he was only experiencing cramps in his calves, but because he also had hamstring pain, further caution is certainly necessary.

“I’m only repeating what I overheard him tell the media, so we’ll investigate it a little more over the course of the next few days and get back to you.”

The Cats’ injury woes continued over the next three days following the Thursday withdrawal of Tanner Bruhn (foot) and the late withdrawals of Mitch Duncan (personal reasons) and Tom Atkins (adductor).

Duncan jumped on a 4.30pm flight from Adelaide to return home to be with his wife, who was going into labour.

Despite the setbacks, the Cats were magnificent, led by a Tom Stewart masterclass in his 150th game.
