Reports: Former Giants head coach to join Patriots’ staff…

Former head coach of the Giants will work with the Patriots.

A former head coach of the New York Giants is allegedly in talks to join the offensive staff of the New England Patriots.

Albert Breer of The MMQB reports that Ben McAdoo, the former coach of the Giants, is in talks to become an assistant with the Patriots. In the proposed position, McAdoo would collaborate with Alex Van Pelt, the new offensive coordinator.

The Giants head coach McAdoo served for fewer than two years, and it is the period of his career for which he is most remembered. Though he went 13–15, he is most known for benching Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith, breaking his record of 210 straight starts. His sole significant position after being let go by the Giants was that of offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers in 2022.

After hiring Jerod Mayo as head coach, the Patriots are making major changes to their coaching staff. After spending time with the Cleveland Browns, Van Pelt joined the team last week, and it’s obvious he wants to bring more expertise with him.
