A severe blow: The departure of two key players from Philadelphia Phillies could be the team’s demise.

Johan Rojas will take Craig Kimbrel’s place in the Phillies’ 2024 spring training narratives, along with first baseman Bryce Harper.

CBS Philadelphia – The Phillies of Philadelphia did not sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto or Shohei Ohtani. To get Juan Soto, they did not trade. For supporters accustomed to big-name signings during the Bryce Harper Era, the summer was dull.

Despite this, the Phillies, who have spent the second-most on free agency in baseball, are traveling to Clearwater, Florida this week.

After Aaron Nola tried free agency, the Phillies signed him back to a seven-year, $172 million contract. The only team that spent more in the offseason was the Los Angeles Dodgers, who signed both Ohtani and Yamamoto.

Although it may have been the least eventful offseason for baseball executive Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies are still in a strong position to contend for the World Series.

Here are three narratives to follow as this week’s spring training gets underway.
