Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to Sign With Bills During NFL Free Agency?
Could Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire sign with the Buffalo Bills in free agency?
This offseason, the Buffalo Bills need a running back.
Latavius Murray, an experienced running back, is still unsigned, so the Bills need depth behind James Cook, the starter.
In a recent ESPN article, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire of the Kansas City Chiefs was linked to the Bills as one of the “perfect fits” for available free agents.
Joe Brady, the former LSU assistant who is currently the offensive coordinator for the Bills, oversaw Edwards-Helaire’s finest collegiate season. James Cook is without a doubt Buffalo’s top back, but Edwards-Helaire and Ty Johnson may compete for reserve duty, according to ESPN.
Next month, Edwards-Helaire will be 25. As Isiah Pacheco’s backup last season, he totaled 411 yards from scrimmage for the Chiefs. The Chiefs rejected his fifth-year option, thus he is a free agent this season. Despite not living up to his potential to be selected in the first round, Edwards-Helaire has two Super Bowl rings and system experience.
He doesn’t need to be a lead back for the Bills, but when Cook goes down, Edwards-Helaire would be a top backup and be able to fill in.
