Prior to 2024, the Queensland Reds name an accomplished head coach.

After 15 years in the StoreLocal Hospital Cup, Anderson is one of the most well-known coaches in Queensland club rugby competition.

After taking over as forwards coach at Bond University, located on the Gold Coast, in 2016, the 48-year-old took over as head coach a few years later in 2018.

After guiding the Bull Sharks to their first minor premiership this season and their first trip in the finals in 2020, Anderson has oversaw the most successful run in Bond’s brief career in the premier grade competition.

Anderson released a statement saying, “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with the Reds Super Rugby Women’s Program.”

“I’m passionate about rugby in Queensland, and I want to contribute to and be a part of the culture that the Reds organization is fostering.

“We have some of the best players in the nation, and I’m excited to support and encourage their growth as they pursue their objectives.

“My main goal is to give the players, coaches, and staff the confidence to believe in the procedures that will ultimately lead to the team’s success and to push themselves and each other to be better.”

With extensive international and Australian coaching experience, Anderson will add a plethora of knowledge to the Queensland Reds roster for the next campaign.

In addition to representing Souths and the Gold Coast Breakers in the Queensland league, Anderson played with the Newcastle Falcons, Edinburgh Gunner, and Cornish Pirates in the United Kingdom.

After serving as the forwards coach for the London Wasps Academy for three years, the 48-year-old moved to the Gold Coast to work at The Southport School.

But after signing a contract with the Reds, a fresh chapter will be written for the next season.

“We’re happy to have Grant join the team in 2024,” Reds Professional Rugby General Manager Sam Cordingley stated.

“He has excellent knowledge of Queensland rugby and offers significant experience from a variety of roles and programs.

“With the new Ballymore facilities, women’s rugby is in an exciting time, and we’re certain Grant is the guy to make the most of it going ahead.”
